Trailer Preventative Maintenance & Inspection

Updated: Nov 12, 2021

It is the owner / operator's responsibility to ensure the trailer is in safe and roadworthy condition at all times. At GoTu Trailers, we can help you to put a proper preventative maintenance regime in place.

We offer comprehensive Trailer Inspection Service as part of our Trailer's Preventative Maintenance programme. Our service is available for all types of Trailers which can be towed on a hitch. We follow the Road Safety Authority's requirement and industry's best practice and we have developed our own Trailer Inspection Checklist.

Trailer's preventative maintenance should consist of scheduled maintenance, component repairs and inspections carried out by a suitably qualified person to

  • ensure that trailers and its components are operating correctly

  • avoid any unscheduled breakdown and downtime

  • ensure the roadworthiness of the trailers

  • ensure the health and safety of any live stock being transported

Preventative Maintenance

"Preventative maintenance means being on the look-out for things that might go wrong with the vehicle so that risks do not occur as a result of the deterioration or failure of a component or safety system on the trailer."

It is systematic detection, correction and prevention of failures before they become actual or major faults in contrast to corrective maintenance. A trailer's preventative maintenance programme should be thorough, regular and frequent enough to meet the manufacturer's guidelines and that the trailer, if used on a road, is safe and roadworthy.

Pre-planned preventative maintenance along with daily walk-around checks help ensure that trailers are maintained in a roadworthy condition.
